Back when I was growing up my brothers used to play football on the marshes, and I was amazed by how much space was available throughout the week.
Over a hundred pitches dedicated just for the community. It wasn’t something you had to pay for. I look at that green space now and I fear for the future. I think about how’s it gonna be used, what’s it gonna be used for. The answer I keep getting back is “we’re going to develop it for social housing, affordable housing”. But no-one can actually explain to me what affordable housing is. Because if you’re a single mum on the breadline, your idea of affordable housing is different than someone else’s.
