I’ve lived in the east end most of my life, in Hackney in particular. My connection with Hackney started in the early 90s. The marshes, ah we love them. They’re a godsend. You can imagine people here without gardens, in the lockdown. The marshes was the place. The place for football, for walks, nature conservation, birdwatching, the lot. It’s an absolute necessity and godsend for this borough. I would like the place to be preserved as a garden for the people of hackney, I don’t want it overdeveloped.
