I live in Hackney and I work in the Olympic Park doing grounds maintenance. They spent quite a lot building this park. I think in the billions, nine or ten billion.
It’s meant to be affordable housing and whatnot but the houses in the old village, some of them are two bedroom flats going for quarter of a million, maybe three hundred thousand? That’s not really what local people can afford, it’s sort of pricing people out of the area. A lot the other side of this park is being built on in the next few months as well, they’re going to be chopping more trees down. I don’t really get how they justify chopping loads of trees down ten, fifteen years after planting them.
