I’ve lived in Hackney for more than twenty years now. And I have to say for the first five or six years I wasn’t really aware of how much green space there was.
But now it's become a real oasis, a kind of place of refuge, that green space. And now that I know it's there I really value it, it’s almost like a corridor that leads you out of London. I love the fact it’s a bit scruffy, with parts that are kind of weird, liminal, not used, semi-industrial and reclaimed.
That’s part of its charm I think; that kind of uncertainty of it. I don’t mind change. I just want it to be sensitive, and necessary, and appropriate.
